Wednesday the 12th… I think?

On the two hour train for the airport at the moment, having had a busy but un-adventurous last couple of days.

Monday was spent lazing around the house trying to recover some energy after our three cities in three days mad tour. In the evening we went out for yakiniku, small table top barbecued meats, very delicious.

Later in the evening I went out to a local pool bar with an American friend I knew from my time living and studying in japan. The guy (James) actually just got married yesterday so we had a little two man stag party for him. 3 if you count the shop owner! We had several beverages and played a couple of games of darts. Whisky really does help you aim better, tequila not so much! It was a good time but we were both able to walk home and neither of us had been locked out so it wasn’t a true bachelor party for him. I promise to do better if he ever gets married again! I just need more notice next time!

Yesterday about all we did was some souvenirs and supermarket shopping, and took a drive to Naoko and my old University, in order for Naoko to pick up some paperwork.

Being on the old school ground was a bit of entertainment for us both. A couple of teachers were ones we recognised walking around, but most, along with all the students, had changed in the last couple of years!

We did manager a stop for lunch at Bijou, one of our favourite restaurants in Shounandai that specialises in french fusion with local ingredients. The food was delicious and the master was very happy to see we made it back to Japan. Last summer when we were there, we had lunch just before our flight out and we were a but rushed so he’d been worried if we made it on time. He made sure we had plenty of time to eat and enjoy ourselves this time though!

Today has been just enough time to eat lunch and rush madly for the station! No time for tearful goodbyes, just a few handshakes and best of lucks!

Some shots of our last few days are enclosed as usual, including some from the train window just now. It will be back to slow old NZ soon, so not sure what I’ll blog about when that happens but we shall see!
