More Fun Than a Hole in Your Head…

Having had the joy today of experiencing a root canal for the first time, I can honestly guarantee you that nearly anything you are planning to do tomorrow is more fun than this. Not everything mind you, as it wasn’t actually as bad an experience as I thought it might be. One quick stab in the face with some local anaesthetic and things went smoothly from there. As smooth as a slow drill into the head can go.

It’s been a very slow week or so of vacation so far, I’ve done absolutely nothing of note. Watched a few DVD’s and wasted many hours playing Fallout 3, an entertaining computer game blasting radioactive mutants in a post apocalyptic world. I had thought about going for a drive, just heading up the north island until I felt like turning around and coming back, but unfortunately the other weekend my mum was driving their car over the hill to the Wairarapa and broke it somehow. Now they need to share the use of my one so I can’t monopolise it for even a whole day. Does anyone have a good deal on a newish station wagon? preferably a Subaru Legacy of some kind. I need custody of my car back!

On another note my father is currently camped out on the sofa in a sleeping bag because he has some kind of genetic disability which means he doesn’t have the ability to make their bed if my mother has taken the sheets off it earlier in the day, or left it generally messy. I don’t think he’ll actually stay there all night, but it’s his version of some kind of protest.

I only have 1 paper next semester but it has almost as much class contact time as the three I took last semester. My plan was to get a part time job or some kind of regular job to make up for the free time I would have had from not studying so much, but it seems like I’ll end up studying just as much as before. Still there is only about 6 months until my girlfriend moves here from Japan so I need to find some kind of money so we don’t have to live in a cardboard box (I’m not sure if a cardboard box is preferable to at home with my parents still or not). If there’s anyone out there who could use a soon to be graduate in International Relations, Asian Studies and Japanese Language, I am available for hire. Though I don’t work with children or animals… Animals are negotiable. Failing that maybe I’ll be able to find a job that looks fun to do and volunteer at it part time, everyone could use a free assistant right?

Tomorrow I think I’ll continue to make the most of my days of doing nothing by going and having a coffee at Starbucks (well actually it’s not coffee, but that’s easier to say than ‘caffeinated beverage’ so I’ll just keep it simple.) after that I’ll probably go and murder some digital representations of terrorists and zombies on a computer at iPlay and then if I’m lucky and haven’t run out of money I might even finally go and watch the new Transformers movie. It’s more fun to do these things with friends though so if any of you that read this and live in Wellington are actually free, give me a text or a call! For now I’m going to spend an hour or two watching Season 2 of 21 Jump Street. I can’t believe they kept this concept going on for so many seasons… I don’t think I’ll make it through them all!
